This cover's a sharp one, folks, so let's begin with that and a blurb.
Tristan Winter's day takes a turn for the worse when his best employee calls in sick. As the only other technical specialist able to step in on such short notice, he takes over what seems like a run of the mill job -- until he runs into his old crush from high school, Jamie Hunter. Ten years after a summer fling left him with a broken heart, Tristan now has a different view of life and love but this time around, will he push away the only man he ever cared about?
Genre: LGBT Contemporary
Length: Novella
Let's turn the floor over to Lori now, where she talks about being bitten by the book idea and getting it out on paper like a writer possessed. She's also included a quick little excerpt for your reading pleasure. All the fun beneath the jump.
Sometimes you just have a flash…
First off, thank you to Rachel for having me by to talk about my latest release, “Trust In Me” from Loose Id.
Like most of my ideas, they always show up when I am working on something else. At the time, I was ferociously editing (in between working at my company) and this scene came to me like a flash, the pictures so bright and in full color, I had to write it down. The sense of joy the men were feeling overpowered the scene and before I knew it, I had several thousand words.
I needed to finish editing the story I was originally working on but once that was done, I came back to what became “Trust In Me”. Sometimes characters show up and demand I write their stories but this was different. I felt like a fly on the wall, watching Tristan as his past came back to haunt him. Of course, that scene was still burning bright in my mind, still so real I knew I had to write Tristan’s story and how his heart was shattered on a beautiful summer night.
I wrote the rest of the book in two days, the words pouring out of me as quick as I could type. I was on a deadline as it was originally going to a contest that was looming so I had to tell their story and quickly. Finally, the story found its home at Loose Id and Sandra and the crew at LI were awesome.
I hope you enjoy Tristan and Jamie’s story as much as I loved writing it. Thanks!
Lori

A taste of Trust in Me:
I found it sad and horrible this was all my life boiled down to. At the end of all of it, I was trying to feel what I had felt when I looked at him. The anger bubbling up within me was simply the pain of being rejected that next morning.
I didn’t say a word to the provocation. I just finished my toast, which created a lump in my throat. I charged the bill to my room and then stood up. I took two steps, then leaned down so only he would hear me. “I don’t know if you are a closet case or what, but you don’t have to worry about me outing you. I’ll be your dirty little secret.” I took a deep breath to steady my voice. “Let’s just treat each other with some sort of civility.”
I couldn’t wait around for his agreement, because the way he looked up at me, those blue eyes of his wide and his lips parted, was driving me to the brink of insanity. I wanted to kiss him until I was drowning again. It took every ounce of strength to turn and walk away.

Hi Lori *waves*
ReplyDeleteTrust in Me sounds great and the way it grabbed you and didn't let go shows it was obviously meant to be written :).
How does this book then compare with some of your other books which took longer to write or where the words didn't flow as well?
This looks awesome! and the cover is gorgeous!

*waves* Hi Lori, Hi Rachel. :D
ReplyDelete2 days? Wow. Flash indeed! Awesome.
Don't mind me. I'm just sneaking in to say howdy. Howdy. :D
Later taters!
Jenre,
ReplyDeleteIt did grab me. I was really shocked.
I rarely have a word flow problem. A lot of times if the words aren't flowing, it's because I have a really angsty scene coming up or a scene when one of the heroes is going to walk away with a broken heart. While I know the scene is going to be great, I dread feeling that angst.
My word count varies. Replacement Guitarist was at 60K and that book was written in about 2 months. It was also my first book and more time is spent networking and promoting other works now.
Thank you for such awesome questions :)
Jason,
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope you enjoy it :)

Hi Moniqee!
ReplyDeleteThe inspiration partially came from my work. I traveled a lot with my job. Some of it came from it being a reunion romance and happiness I feel when I reunite with my hubby when he comes back from England. :)
Looks like another great read, Congrats, Lori!!
ReplyDeleteThe cover for TRUST IN ME is wonderful. The blurb makes me want to read more.
