Welcome to my little corner of the gay erotic romance universe . . . well, half of it, anyway. (You can find the other half at RachelHaimowitz.com.) This is the place to come for sneak previews of new projects, release information, and the occasional M/M book review. I'll also share thoughts on the industry on occasion, and I hope you'll come share yours in return.

Chat and Win with Adriana Kraft

This is a month of firsts at Fantasy Unbound--last week we featured our first YA romance writer, and today we're featuring our first F/F romance writer, Adriana Kraft!

Adriana's here to talk all things writing with us, and also give away a free copy of her latest release to one lucky commenter. So, what's up for grabs?
The Lady Wants More.
Janet Baxter keeps her post-divorce life neatly compartmentalized: Secure job, spacious Westchester County home, successful adult children, dependable community volunteer activities. Why is she drawn – for the first time ever – to attend her twenty-year college reunion in New York City?

Always a free spirit, Brenda Cassidy is comfortably bisexual and has no plans to ever settle down. But a fling? The reappearance of svelte, reserved Janet Baxter in Brenda’s life is nothing less than a gift, worthy of every enticement Brenda can conjure up. Can Brenda seduce Janet into an endless night of the lovemaking they enjoyed too briefly as college roommates? What if the lady wants more?

Excerpt

Brenda spun around to face Janet when they got to the far corner of the dance floor. She knew Janet would prefer to be in the corner rather than on the front edge where bar patrons could easily gawk at them. She, herself, preferred center stage but—she grinned at her partner—tonight she’d cater to Janet’s desires. She just wished she could get a better read on her former roommate’s desires. Did they include her, yet? There was no need to rush things now that they’d reconnected after all these years.

Brenda had already decided that Janet needed, once again, to break out of her shell and get on with her life. Of course she’d often been accused of making quick judgments, if not rash ones. But surely the universe hadn’t crossed their paths just so they could share a drink and swap life stories. While she wasn’t looking for a permanent relationship, whatever that was, she was always on the lookout for a relationship that might offer enough challenge and spice to keep her going for more than a night or two.

Brenda grinned at Janet. She knew for certain this tall dark haired women with gorgeous long legs could provide ample challenge and spice for some time. She held out her hands, interlaced her fingers with Janet’s and picked up the beat to the fast paced hip hop music. At arm’s length they swayed and stepped to the music. They circled each other.

Brenda filled her lungs. Her body throbbed with the music. Her brain clicked into hypersensitive mode—once again, she’d become the huntress. “Are you ready for me?”

Janet grinned and nodded. She dropped her hands, spun around and reached for Brenda again.

And now my interview with Adriana, beneath the jump.

What draws you to romance?

I’ve got to have a happy ending. There’s enough drama and tragedy in life already, so escaping to a world where the story stops when everyone’s happy works for me.

Do you prefer alpha/omega relationships in stories, or alpha/alpha relationships, and why?
Alpha/alpha, if I have to choose. I want all my characters to be strong enough to deserve each other. I don’t write characters who need rescuing – I want them to stand up for themselves and take life as it comes.

Have you ever written outside the romance genre? If not, do you ever plan to?
Actually, both my husband and I published academically (separately and together) before trying our hand at fiction. I think that’s part of what gave us the nerve to plunge into writing romance together – we both knew how to write, and we weren’t afraid to edit each other. So we co-author all our works under our pen name, Adriana Kraft.

What’s the sexiest feature on a man to you? And on a woman? Why?
On a man, actually, it’s his eyes, and especially the little crinkles at the corners when his face lights up because he’s spotted me. A little come hither, a little tease. On a woman? Probably her smile. I love Brenda’s smile on the cover of our latest release – makes me want to jump into the picture and join them!

What’s your own sexiest feature?
Definitely my legs! I’m actually a short person, but I’m also short-waisted, so my legs are nice and long, relatively speaking, and I dress to show them off. BTW the legs in my logo aren’t mine…

Do you own an ereader? Why or why not? If so, what’s on it?
We just took the plunge this spring! He has a Nook, I have a Kindle (we wanted to cover all bases). On mine? All of Jane Austen, and anything I’ve purchased in the last two months. Lots of lesbian romance, Duty Honor Country by Bob Mayer, Butterfly Tattoo by Deidre Knight, I Came Upstais by M C Halliday – gol, do you really want them all? I’ve got to figure out how to organize them! Right now I’m reading Waking Up Gray by R.E. Bradshaw and totally loving it. Hubs is reading a biography of Cleopatra. Don’t know what else he’s downloaded!

Are you a book hoarder?
Both of us have definitely been book hoarders. I think we have fourteen or fifteen bookshelves filled with books! That’s a major reason we’ve made the transition to e-readers. We’re downsizing with plans to travel in our RV year round, so ebooks are essential!

Do you have a favorite character out of all the ones you’ve written? If so, who is it and why is s/he your favorite?
That’s a hard one – I love them all! Merry Delaney in The Merry Widow is near the top of the list – she embraces her life so fearlessly, and she actually inspired me, which is sort of upside down. Probably all our characters have elements of ourselves inside them, only sometimes we’re unaware until we get it on the page.

Where are your online hangouts? Where can your readers find you?

What’s your current book list and where can we buy them?
I have twenty five books and four short stories published at Extasy, Whiskey Creek Press Torrid, Love You Divine, Torquere and Logical Lust. You can find info on all of them at my website, and they’re also available at Amazon.com and All Romance Ebooks

  4. Sounds fab. Adriana :)

June, I'm with you--I've never read F/F but I'm definitely curious to see how the relationship dynamics depart from M/F and M/M.

  5. I've never read f/f either but I am curious about how much it will freak me out

  6. Hi Heather, not to worry. If it freaks you out, that just means it's not your fave thing to read. That's part of what I love about the LGBTQ community, something for everyone, no judgment. At least it's what I hope for!
