Morning, all. Let's start the week off with a giveaway, eh?
I have a giant pile of AAD conference swag. My giant pile of AAD conference swag, let me show you it. (Click to make gianter.)
Comment if you want it, and I'll select one winner at random on Friday. Also, yeah, that's my conference badge in the back there, and yeah, it is indeed powered by tiger blood. I'll send that along too if the winner wants it.
Hey Rachel, How did you enjoy the conference? Do you find them useful?
ReplyDeleteBTW, Do you have any intention of adding Crescendo for Pre-Order at B&N?
Hi Jim,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the conference very much, but whether I found it "useful" or not definitely depends on how you define that. Did I feel like I grew as a writer? Not particularly, no. The panels, for instance, were generally very amusing and interesting conversations, but revealed very little new information. On the other hand, I definitely met a ton of wonderful people, did a lot of networking, and made a lot of new connections that I'd consider deeply useful. Not to mention very, very fun :D It was wonderful to finally be able to put faces to the names I see online every day.
Re: Crescendo, I don't control that, my publisher does. You can pre-order an ePub through the publisher site (which is the exact same file format sold on B&N for your Nook), but if you want to buy it through B&N directly, you'll have to wait until release day. There are many benefits to pre-ordering from the publisher--you get the book two days early, you get entered into some neat prize drawings, and more of your purchase price goes directly to the author and publisher--but I certainly understand that everyone likes to shop in their own favorite places. The book will be available in as many of those places as possible on release day :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Rachel,
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that when I was absent for such a long time, so many new and exciting things happened :). Congratulations! And I'm really looking forward to reading Crescendo - next week I'll pre-order it. And then I have patiently wait till October.
It's great to hear that you have such a lot of fun during the conference. New connections are always useful - you never know when you need them :D. And you badge looks huge. Was it uncomfortable to wear?
Best wishes,
Barbara
Hi Barbara! THanks for the congratulations--it's true that an absolutely insane amount of awesome stuff has happened in the last few months. As for Crescendo...Hey, October's not so far away now, right? Plus you'll get to read it two days early :D
ReplyDeleteThe conference badge isn't so big as it looks, mostly because the stuff on the sides is all just ribbons. Wasn't uncomfortable at all. It did keep flipping around though; everyone's did, for some reason, which was kind of inconvenient because then you never knew who you were talking to :-p
Re-the pre-order. You save $2 too!
ReplyDelete@lskoester: Oh, yep, that's true!
ReplyDeleteSounds like so much fun. I have always wanted to go to a conference and meet folks. I would have loved to go to gay rom lit but it is over my anniversary this year. Hopefully next time.
ReplyDelete@jayhjay: Excuses excuses ;-p Bring the SO; you can have your anniversary in New Orleans! :D
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great time at the conference. Does the publisher have other formats available for preorder? I have a kindle so mobi/prc is what works with it.
